Beginner's Pokémon Dictionary Pokémon-(poh-kay-mon or poh-kuh-mon) Pocket Monsters or Pokémon for short. They inhabit the Pokémon Island. They are caught by trainers to use in pokémon battles or just as pets. They each have unique magic attacks. They can learn these attacks or be taught by their trainers. Pokédex- (poh-kuh-dex) A hand-held super computer that was invented by Prof. Oak. It can store and recall information on pokémon. Ash's pokédex is called "dexter". "Dexter" serves as a Pokémon encylopedia, a Pokémon League Rule Book, and a source of trainer's ID. Pokéball-(poh-kuh-ball) A round, very high-tech ball used to capture Pokémon. When a trainer has cought a pokémon, they can keep it in a pokéball. One person can only have 6 pokemon at a time. When they catch any more, the pokeballs along with the pokémon inside are transported to the place where they got their Pokédex. Gym- In the land of pokémon, there is something Called the Pokémon League. It is an association of the best Pokémon trainers. To get into the Pokémon League, you must defeat all Gyms and their leaders to get badges. Gym Leader- The head of a GYM. These accomplished Pokémon trainers are appointed by the Pokémon League. They are required to accept the challenge of anyone who requests it. These trainers usually favour and train only one type of pokémon. If you defeat a trainer, you get their badge. Badge- Proof that you have defeated a Gym Leader. When you collect all 8 badges, you become eligable to join the Pokémon League. Evolution- Most Pokémon will evolve when they collect enough experience points. They become bigger and stronger and able to learn new attacks. Some pokémon need help evolving from stones such as Leaf, Water, Moon, Fire, and Lightning stone. Pokémon Center- A place where a trainer can stay, eat, and have their pokémon healed FOR FREE! |
